How to Change Your Wallpaper on iPhone

Your iPhone’s lock and home screens are the first thing you see all day — here’s how to change them in seconds, and how to set a different image for each.

There are two easy ways to change your wallpaper on iPhone: straight from Settings, or by pressing on the lock screen itself. Both let you set the lock and home screens together or separately.

The quickest way

  1. Open SettingsScroll down and tap Wallpaper.
  2. Tap Add New WallpaperYou’ll see options: Photos, a colour, Emoji, Weather, Astronomy and more.
  3. Choose your imagePick a photo or design, then drag and pinch to position it.
  4. Tap AddThen choose “Set as Wallpaper Pair” to use it on both screens, or “Customize Home Screen” to make them different.

Straight from the lock screen

  1. Wake the phoneTouch and hold anywhere on the locked screen.
  2. Tap the + buttonAdd a brand-new wallpaper, or swipe to switch between ones you’ve saved.
  3. Customise and setPosition it, tap Add, and you’re done.
Tip: Want the home screen to look different from the lock screen? After tapping Add, choose Customize Home Screen — you can blur it, use a colour, or pick another photo.

Quick answers

Why can’t I change my wallpaper? Usually Low Power Mode or a Screen Time restriction. Turn those off and try again.

Can I set a different lock and home screen? Yes — choose “Customize Home Screen” instead of “Set as Wallpaper Pair.”
