iPhone always fills the entire screen with your wallpaper — it never leaves borders. So if your image is a different shape from your screen, iOS zooms in until it covers everything, and the edges get cropped off. The fix is to match the image to your screen’s tall shape before or while you set it.
Fix it while setting the wallpaper
- Open the wallpaper pickerSettings › Wallpaper › Add New Wallpaper, then choose your photo.
- Pinch to zoom outUse two fingers to shrink the image until the parts you care about are all visible.
- Drag to repositionMove the subject where you want it behind the clock, then tap Add.
Fix it properly: crop to your screen first
For full control, crop the photo to your iPhone’s aspect ratio in the Photos app before setting it. Open the photo, tap Edit › Crop, and choose a tall ratio close to your screen. That way nothing gets surprise-cropped when you set it.
